Boston Celtics Basketball Game

Take in the atmosphere of a professional basketball game while visiting Boston.  The Boston Celtics, who play at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, wear green and white and have an Irish leprechaun as their mascot, reflecting the strong Irish heritage in the city.  Visit the NBA ticket website to buy tickets for a Boston Celtics game.

Boston Redsox - Fenway Park4 Yawkey Way, Boston 02215-3496 • 617-267-1700. Distance: about 1.19 miles. Boston Red Sox players and fans call this home. It is one of the smallest and oldest baseball parks in the major leagues. Built in 1912, this park still has real grass on the field as well as the famed Green Monster. Tickets to games may be purchased at the park, though some games may be more difficult than others to get good seats. During the off-season, guided tours are offered. Tours daily 9am-4pm (or until three hours prior to game time).
Boston Tea Party Ship and MuseumCongress Street Bridge, Boston 02109 • 617-269-7150. A faithful replica of a Boston Tea Party ship like the one forcibly boarded and unloaded on the night Boston Harbor itself became a teapot. Distance: about 1.18 miles.
Boston's Freedom TrailBoston  • 617-227-8800. This is a wonderful way to see Boston! Put on some comfortable shoes and experience the 2.5-mile trail full of historical information. The tour starts at Boston Common but can easily be picked up at any point along the way just by following the signs throughout the city. The path allows you to visit sites that are very important to the city's history, including the Paul Revere House, the statue of Benjamin Franklin, and the site of the Boston Massacre. Should you have any questions, the men and women dressed in colonial attire will be glad to answer them.
Copley Place Mall1 Copley Place, Boston 02116-6514 • 617-369-5000. Distance: about 0.2 miles. Copley Place Mall, located in Back Bay, offers high-end stores with a variety of quality merchandise. Shop at Williams-Sonoma, Gucci, Christian Dior, Neiman Marcus and many other favorite retailers. The mall's two spacious floors feature shops, restaurants, a cinema, and two hotels. A great spot to while away time. Hours: Monday to Saturday 10am-8pm, Sunday noon-6pm.
Harvard University1350 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge  02138 • 617-495-1573. Distance: about 2.7 miles. The country's oldest institution for higher learning, founded in 1636, was named after its first patron, Rev. John Harvard. Initially conceived as a seminary, the university now features ten graduate and professional schools. Notable alumni include six United States presidents and more than 30 Nobel Laureates. Guided campus tours depart from Holyoke Center every day except Sunday. Hours: Guided campus tours Monday-Friday 10am and 2pm, Saturday 2pm; Free admission.

Includes works of art by Dali, Renoir, Monet, Van Gogh and some famous large Turners. American art collection surpasses those of all but two or three other US museums. An extensive collection of Asian and Indian art. European artwork from the 11th through the 20th centuries. Monday-Tuesday 10am-4:45pm, Wednesday 10am-9:45pm, Thursday-Friday 10am-4:45pm (West Wing is open until 9:45pm), Saturday-Sunday 10am-5:45pm.

Old North Church193 Salem St, Boston 02113 • 617-523-6676. Distance: about 1.54 miles. This is the site where many significant historical moments took place. April 18, 1775, Paul Revere hung his lanterns from the church's steeple as a signal of warning to the people in Lexington. This is the oldest church building in Boston and was designed by William Price from a study of Christopher Wren's London churches. Private benches boxed in with family names make this an unusual church. Today, the church still provides services on Sundays. Informational guided tours are available. Tours Monday-Sunday 9am-5pm. Free admission but a $2 donation is suggested.
Quincy Market/Faneuil HallDistance: 1.9 miles. 4 South Market, Boston 02109 • 617-523-1300. Overlooking the ocean, this 535-foot long market recalls a significant era of local history. Following the city's beginnings in 1822, Boston experienced rapid growth and, as a result, experienced problems with food distribution. Boston's second mayor, Josiah Quincy, shrewdly used his political clout to purchase land for the market, which was soon frequented by shop owners, vendors, and merchants. Now, although the market has undergone considerable restoration and renovation, it continues to host thriving commercial, shopping, and dining venues. Hours: Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday noon-6pm; Store and restaurant hours may vary.
Shops at Prudential Center800 Boylston Street, Boston 02199-8001 • 800-746-7778. Distance: about 0.41 miles. Shops at the Prudential Center offers well over 75 retail establishments, including Barnes & Noble, Sunglass Hut, Franklin Covey, Yankee Candle, Ann Taylor, Lord & Taylor, and many more favorites. The mall also has a pleasant food court where shoppers can grab a quick bite between stores. Hours: Monday-Saturday 10am-9pm, Sunday 11am-6pm.
USS ConstitutionDistance: about 2.5 miles. 28 Constitution Road Charlestown Navy Yard, Charlestown  02129-2008 • 617-242-0543. CHARLESTOWN. This venerable ship, nicknamed "Old Ironsides" for the strength of its oaken hull, was even said to repel cannon fire by some. Launched in 1797, the Constitution is the oldest commissioned ship in the US Navy and is moored at Charlestown Navy Yard. The ship never lost an engagement during its service against Barbary pirates and in the War of 1812. The nearby Constitution Museum tells the ship's story with artifacts, maps, photos, and videos. Hours: Museum opens daily 10am-6pm; Ship opens daily 10am-4pm.
